4 Reasons The Solution To Back Pain May Be Hidden In Your Closet

Claire Roberts

For some women, fashionable clothing and accessories can trump comfort and contribute to back pain. If you frequently suffer from back pain without a known cause, the items inside your closet may offer answers.

Buy The Right Bra

If you have a large bust, this can cause tremendous back pain. However, just wearing the wrong size bra, without or without a large bust, can cause or exacerbate pain. The band of your bra is the most critical part of your bra for providing support and lessening the burden on your bra straps. You should have a proper bra fitting to ensure you are wearing the right size bra. Avoid purchasing bras with a thin band. Bras with two hooks in the back are rarely wide enough to provide adequate support, especially as your cup size increases.

Toss Uncomfortable Shoes

Shoes that place strain on your back come in a variety of styles. The most obvious culprits are high heels. Even if you feel like you are accustomed to walking in high heels, they force your feet into an unnatural position. Foot pain and deformities are not the only problems attributed to wearing high heels. Your back will also suffer the effects. Trying to balance on uncomfortably high heels places strain on your back and will cause you to walk differently.

Since high heels force you to walk more on the balls of your feet, you will naturally lean backwards to compensate. High-heel shoes that are too flat or that do not provide adequate cushion for your feet will not provide enough shock absorption as you walk, which can cause lower back pain.

Downsize Large Purses

Having a large purse is often a necessity, especially if you have children and need to carry items for both you and your children. The large purse itself is not a problem, but you probably take more items than necessary when you have a large purse. Stuffing your purse beyond capacity and having to lug it around will place considerable strain on your back. If you cannot scale back the amount of items you carry in your purse, switch to a small or mid-size purse. This will force you to streamline the number of items inside your purse.

Choose Great Shapewear

Shapewear is a good addition to your wardrobe to minimize back pain. Consider purchasing shapewear that is designed to slim your mid-section and is made from thick, breathable material. You will probably notice the mild constriction forces you to have better posture, and reminds you to stand or sit properly throughout the day. Many pieces of shapewear for the upper body also have a crisscross pattern on the back to enhance support for your upper back.

If you find that any one of these articles is the culprit of your pain, make the proper adjustments and see a professional practice, like Bronx Physical Therapy LLP.

Many instances of chronic back pain can be attributed to your lifestyle or clothing choices. Making simple modifications to your wardrobe can potentially prevent you from developing severe, disabling back problems.
