About Me
Loving My Pain Free Life

My name is Melinda Johnson and I suffered with foot pain for many years. I went to see a podiatrist and after an examination, I was told that I had heel spur syndrome. I followed the recommendations of my doctor by doing at home treatments along with physical therapy. I was amazed at how much these treatments helped my foot pain. Living with pain can have a big impact on your life and that's why I started this blog. My foot pain kept me from doing many things that I enjoy and I want to help others who are going through the same situation. As you browse through my blog, you'll learn about home treatments, medical procedures and new advancements in medicine that can help reduce pain. It is my hope that by writing this blog, you can live pain free too.

2 Things You Can Do To Help Ensure Your Success At Rehab

Claire Roberts

Now that you've decided to attend rehab, you can expect many positive life changes to take place over the coming months. Thanks to the new skills you'll learn and resources you will gain throughout the process of getting clean in rehab, you will be armed with the tools that you need to make living a happy, sober life a reality. Consider implementing the following preparation methods before your stint at rehab to help ensure your success:

Make a Few Visits Beforehand

It's a good idea to schedule a couple of visits before your stay in rehab so you can get to know the facility and understand how it functions. This will help ensure there aren't any surprising lifestyle changes you'll need to abruptly make once you check in, and will allow you to gain insight into everything from group meeting topics to treatment options that are implemented within the facility.

Try to visit when facilitators aren't swamped with work, such as during lunch time, so they will have an opportunity to speak with you and answer your questions. Many rehab facilities host family events for their patients while being treated – making it to one of these events will enable you to speak with others going through the program to find out how they're progressing and what they are doing to make the process easier on themselves. You may be able to incorporate some of the tips and tricks they offer into your own stay at rehab.

Practice the Schedule at Home

Get a daily schedule from your rehab facility so you can practice it at home. This should make the process of getting settled into rehab comfortable and easy, as you'll already be used to the basic schedule you will have to follow. Start a couple of weeks before you are scheduled to enter rehab. Get to bed and wake up and eat your meals based on the rehab's schedule. Attend community support meeting during times when group meetings are typically scheduled in rehab. If you're already used to the schedule when you enter rehab, you won't have to spend much time adjusting, which means you'll have more time to focus on the important stuff like your treatment protocol.

Practicing these methods and techniques should help prepare you for life inside rehab so you can focus on taking advantage of all the support and tools that are made available to you at the time.  For more information, contact a drug dependence treatment center like Brightside Clinic.
