Loving My Pain Free Life

My name is Melinda Johnson and I suffered with foot pain for many years. I went to see a podiatrist and after an examination, I was told that I had heel spur syndrome. I followed the recommendations of my doctor by doing at home treatments along with physical therapy. I was amazed at how much these treatments helped my foot pain. Living with pain can have a big impact on your life and that's why I started this blog. My foot pain kept me from doing many things that I enjoy and I want to help others who are going through the same situation. As you browse through my blog, you'll learn about home treatments, medical procedures and new advancements in medicine that can help reduce pain. It is my hope that by writing this blog, you can live pain free too.

Keep Your Veins In Good Condition As You Age

Claire Roberts

When it comes to your body, you probably prioritize things like losing weight or keeping your cholesterol down. One specific aspect of your body that can sometimes be overlooked, however, is the overall health of your veins. Your veins are critically important because they transfer and circulate blood throughout your body. If you want to keep your veins in good condition as time goes on, here are some tips that might help.

Exercise Keeps the Blood Moving

It probably shouldn't come as a huge surprise, as exercising more can typically cure a lot of things with your body over time, but regular exercise, or at least regular movement, is a big deal when it comes to keeping your veins healthy.

Do you sit in an office chair for eight hours or more every day? During this time, your blood is not circulating very fast, and this can cause it to pool a bit in areas like your legs if you have veins that are starting to become varicose. A varicose vein is one that is not completely closed and that allows blood to leak out and pool over time. More movement will keep your blood moving and prevent pooled blood from becoming a problem. Get up out of that chair and move around a bit after you finish your next assignment.

Drop the Cigarettes to Stop Vein Thickening

You likely don't need anyone to tell you that cigarettes and smoking are bad for you. But smoking can thicken your blood and possibly even harden your veins, making it more likely for you to develop problems over time. Kick the habit and you'll improve your health across the board, including the health of your veins.

Drink More Water to Thin Out Your Blood

It's not good for your blood to thicken because this causes more wear and tear on your veins over time. While a doctor at a vein clinic may prescribe a blood thinner if you need one, there's one way you can naturally thin your blood, and that's by drinking more water on a regular basis. Increase your daily intake, and your veins will appreciate the difference.

Contact a Vein Clinic at the First Sign of Trouble

If you are starting to see some veins that look visible or "spidery," it's possible you may have varicose veins. It's possible to treat these veins and also prevent any additional issues with other veins by getting professional treatment as soon as possible. Contact a local vein care clinic today to get started.
