Loving My Pain Free Life

My name is Melinda Johnson and I suffered with foot pain for many years. I went to see a podiatrist and after an examination, I was told that I had heel spur syndrome. I followed the recommendations of my doctor by doing at home treatments along with physical therapy. I was amazed at how much these treatments helped my foot pain. Living with pain can have a big impact on your life and that's why I started this blog. My foot pain kept me from doing many things that I enjoy and I want to help others who are going through the same situation. As you browse through my blog, you'll learn about home treatments, medical procedures and new advancements in medicine that can help reduce pain. It is my hope that by writing this blog, you can live pain free too.

Understanding Funeral Costs

Claire Roberts

Planning a funeral is often an emotional and stressful event- it is never easy to lay a loved one to rest. Funerals can also be expensive- the average funeral now costs $7,045. A reputable funeral home will be transparent in outlining the costs of the services and goods that you are purchasing, but it is helpful to know some of the most common fees associated with a funeral.

Funeral Fee

Many funeral homes charge a comprehensive funeral fee, which covers a number of services, including: getting copies of the death certificate, submitting an obituary, storing and preparing the body, planning the funeral service, and making arrangements with a cemetery or crematory.

Embalming Costs

In many cases, it can take anywhere from a few days to up to a week to get all of the details of a funeral in place, especially if an autopsy is required. If you would like to have a viewing at the funeral of your loved one, embalming is recommended. This process helps preserve the body for the time between when the funeral home receives the body and when the funeral is held.

Casket

Many people know that caskets are the most popular choice to hold the body during burial, but not everyone realizes how many casket options there are. This is one area of a funeral where the costs can vary greatly; some caskets, such as a plain wood casket, may cost a couple of hundred dollars, while a steel or titanium casket may cost thousands of dollars. Your funeral home will provide you with a price list so you can make the best financial decision for your situation.

Burial Plots

Many people purchase burial plots while they are still alive, but if your loved one has passed without a designated burial spot, you will need to contact cemeteries in your area to choose and pay for a final resting spot. If you find this process difficult or overly stressful, don't hesitate to ask the funeral director that you are working with for assistance. The staff at funeral homes are a wonderful resource, and they often do whatever they can to help grieving families take care of all final arrangements.

Cremation Costs

Over the last few decades, cremation has become an increasingly popular option. If your loved one made it known that he or she would like to be cremated after death, you will be responsible  for paying the fees that the crematory charges. Cremation does not require a casket- it s possible to rent a casket for the viewing at the funeral, and then use a lower cost option for the cremation process. Many families also like to purchase a decorative urn to hold the remains of their loved one.
