Tired Of Your Plaguing Sports Injury? Non-Abrasive Treatment Options

Claire Roberts

If you have a plaguing sports injury that just doesn't seem to heal completely and starts to flare up and cause pain routinely, it's time to find a pain solution. There are a lot of different things that you can do to help treat the injury and get rid of the pain and irritation, that won't include expensive prescriptions or pain pills from a bottle. Talk with your physician and ask about the following treatments to help treat your pain.

Physical Therapy

Physical therapy to help loosen and strengthen the area of injury will be very beneficial. When you strengthen the area of injury and the muscles that have to support the injury, you will prevent the area from injuring further or getting reinjured down the road. Working with an experienced physical therapist that specializes in sports injuries is ideal for any type injury. You may need a referral from your doctor for that treatment. Contact a clinic like Advanced Physical Therapy for more information.

Cupping

Cupping is a procedure that is used to help improve the blood flow in the area of the injury. The physical therapist may do this, or you may want to find a medical professional that specializes in this practice. Suction cups are placed on the skin and left on and moved around to help stimulate blood flow. This may cause some bruising but can help bring pain relief. There are different types of cups and different levels of suction for treatment.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture can help you get pain relief during your therapy treatments, and so you can go on with your regular daily habits and needs. The needles are used to interrupt the messages that your body sends to the brain to relay pain, so you don't feel the pain that you are experiencing. The acupuncture can also be used to relieve tension and stress in the area of injury and throughout the body.

There are a lot of different ways that you can help the injury heal without taking medications. After the area gets stronger, you'll want to maintain an exercise program to maintain the strength that you've built in the area and in the body, and you'll want to make sure you stretch to keep the area loose and to prevent pulling anything. Try these different things and figure out what will be the best option for you to start trying right away to get rid of the pain and to start healing.
