I followed the recommendations of my doctor by doing at home treatments along with physical therapy. I was amazed at how much these treatments helped my foot pain. Living with pain can have a big impact on your life and that's why I started this blog. My foot pain kept me from doing many things that I enjoy and I want to help others who are going through the same situation. A Look at Prevailing Myths About Laser Eyesight Correction

Claire Roberts

While eyeglasses and contact lenses are a good option for some who have vision problems, laser vision correction can be an excellent option. Surgery procedures, such as LASIK, make it possible for people with a range of vision problems to see clearly without additional aids. Here are a few myths to get out of the way about laser vision correction.

Myth: Laser eye surgery involves a long and painful recovery process.

On the contrary, recovery after laser eye surgery for vision correction is markedly fast for most patients. Most people can actually see vision improvement within the same day of surgery, and the results improve beyond that point for several days thereafter. The general recovery is not considered painful; you may have a bit of redness, excessive tearing, or a slight feeling of pressure or itching in your eye. Your doctor will likely prescribe eye drops to use for several days after the procedure to thwart any discomfort you may feel.

Myth: Laser vision correction results are short-lived; the problem returns pretty quickly after surgery.

Most patients get to enjoy the results of laser surgery for many years after the procedure. In one study, only about 35 percent of patients who underwent LASIK surgery needed to be retreated by the 10-year mark. You may develop new issues as time goes by or your visual abilities may wane, but most patients enjoy the outcome and better vision for many years after the surgery.

Myth: Laser surgery makes your eyes more sensitive to sunlight.

One of the typical symptoms after LASIK eye surgery is sensitivity to light, which is where this myth comes from. However, the sensitivity to sunlight will subside as your eye heals from the surgery. You will be advised to wear protective sunglasses after surgery to protect your eyes and protect you from discomfort. Any prolonged issues with sunlight sensitivity after surgery are rare.

Myth: It is common for laser vision correction to make problems with vision worse.

while every type of surgery on the eye comes along with risks of vision changes, negative changes to your vision after laser eye surgery is unlikely. When you are working with a skilled surgeon who is familiar with the equipment being used, you usually have a highly reliable outcome. Do keep in mind that you have to be attentive to the doctor's guidance while you heal, as the eyes can be more vulnerable to damage after the surgery that could affect your vision.
