Loving My Pain Free Life

My name is Melinda Johnson and I suffered with foot pain for many years. I went to see a podiatrist and after an examination, I was told that I had heel spur syndrome. I followed the recommendations of my doctor by doing at home treatments along with physical therapy. I was amazed at how much these treatments helped my foot pain. Living with pain can have a big impact on your life and that's why I started this blog. My foot pain kept me from doing many things that I enjoy and I want to help others who are going through the same situation. As you browse through my blog, you'll learn about home treatments, medical procedures and new advancements in medicine that can help reduce pain. It is my hope that by writing this blog, you can live pain free too.

LASIK Eye Surgery Recovery: What You Need To Know

Claire Roberts

If you are tired of wearing contacts or glasses, you might have considered LASIK eye surgery. This surgery can correct the vision of good candidates, helping you get rid of your vision aids forever. LASIK eye surgery is common, but many do not know how it works. Many people want to know how to recover from LASIK eye surgery. Here are some things you should know:

How Does the Surgery Work?

The goal of LASIK surgery is to reshape the cornea to help you see. When the cornea is distorted, your ability to see clearly is reduced. Once you are fully healed, you will no longer need your glasses or contacts.

The surgery begins by creating a flap in the eyeball to access the cornea. Once the surgeon obtains access, laser technology is used to reshape the cornea. Once the cornea is reshaped, the flap is closed, and you can start to heal.

How Is the Recovery from LASIK Surgery?

You should not feel anything during the surgery because the eye is numbed using special anesthetic eye drops. After the procedure, your eyes might feel a bit uncomfortable as the effects of the eye drops wear off. Your doctor may recommend some over-the-counter pain medication to help ease any discomfort you may have. You might also notice some blurry vision at first. You should avoid rubbing your eyes on the first day of the surgery to avoid disturbing the incisions.

You will experience some sensitivity to light for a few days after the surgery. Try to avoid sunlight and light from screens. You can wear dark sunglasses to help deal with any sensitivity. Your eyes may look red at first, but this is normal. If your eyes feel dry, you can use some eye drops to keep them moist and comfortable.

Your doctor may want to see you for a follow-up check after a couple of days. They will check to see how you are recovering, check the progress of your vision, and tend to any issues you may have.

Try to avoid any strenuous activity for several days after your LASIK surgery. Avoid any sports that involve contact with your face and eyes for several weeks. Do not wear eye makeup or apply creams near the eyes for a couple of weeks after surgery. In addition, stay out of pools or hot tubs for a couple of months after the procedure, as this could introduce infection in your healing eyes. Your doctor will give you specific instructions for healing timelines.
